John 4: 13-14
Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

In the daily walks of our lives, we go dry and empty.. however there is nothing that will fill us, not even more physical rest, or physical food. Not people or things we do, but only the water that the Lord gives, as you come, be prepared to drink of the Lord.

Continue to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.. only He sees your daily going out and coming in. Finish the race strong.

The next generation...

Dear family.. please pray along with me.. I have been feeling a burden for the next generation.. the youths, the teens. My desire is really to see them growing strong and choosing a life of COMMITMENT in the Lord.

Thus far, we have started the Teens Xcite.. i believe as we continue to move in this, GOd's annointing will flow. But i pray that we will not become comfortable in our current spiritual family.. but let's live a life of difference not a life of indifference, to make a difference to the lives of the youths. At times, i forget this and lose that focus.. so before i get comfy, i decided to post this as a reminder to myself and all.

Let's start looking at the youths and people around through the eyes of Jesus.

I hope to talk about this soon with you..do seek the Lord along with me.

ALso, i would like to commence a combine youth cell,next sunday, 27 Apr, 11.45, Hall 9, starting with the teens, for 2 objectives:

1) to see the teens grow in community and commitment.
2) to see the leaders grow in impartation and empowerment.

Will you share this burden and heartbeat with Jesus today? =)

P.s. congrats Fiona.. MAy you grow from strength to strength.

love ya..
mel

Psalm 108

A David Prayer

1-2 I'm ready, God, so ready,
ready from head to toe.
Ready to sing,
ready to raise a God-song:
"Wake, soul! Wake, lute!
Wake up, you sleepyhead sun!"
3-6 I'm thanking you, God, out in the streets,
singing your praises in town and country.
The deeper your love, the higher it goes;
every cloud's a flag to your faithfulness.
Soar high in the skies, O God!
Cover the whole earth with your glory!
And for the sake of the one you love so much,
reach down and help me—answer me!
7-9 That's when God spoke in holy splendor:
"Brimming over with joy,
I make a present of Shechem,
I hand out Succoth Valley as a gift.
Gilead's in my pocket,
to say nothing of Manasseh.
Ephraim's my hard hat,
Judah my hammer.
Moab's a scrub bucket—
I mop the floor with Moab,
Spit on Edom,
rain fireworks all over Philistia."
10-11 Who will take me to the thick of the fight?
Who'll show me the road to Edom?
You aren't giving up on us, are you, God?
refusing to go out with our troops?
12-13 Give us help for the hard task;
human help is worthless.
In God we'll do our very best;
he'll flatten the opposition for good.

Jenn: "Give us help for the hard task; human help is worthless. In God we'll do our very best; he'll flatten the opposition for good."

Been feeling horrible since ysd night, and woke up today sick. Felt so helpless, there were things to do, but i didn't even have the strength to take care of my basic needs-cook, and all. Was thinking of waiting for my sis to come home. But what good will that do? She can cook for me, bring me to the doctor, stuff like that. But she can't heal me. She can't help me finish my assignment. Only God can. And i realised, the only person i need is Him. The only Person who can really help me is Him. Miraculously, i'm feeling so much better. Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord. For indeed human help is futile and vain, but God can and will save those who cry out to Him. Hallelujah!

faith can move the mountains

Psalm 90
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.

is not that i enjoy taking count of my failures
but its really 5 rejection letters n 3 failed evaluations during my 3 year long wait to be a teacher since july 2005
every one of them is just so painful like a stab wound to my heart
many times i hv wanted to give up during this difficult period,
a year worth of tears i hv cried after each failed evaluation,

many times asking GOD for a reason n answer or anything why I hv to go thru this,
plus a backup plan that I have never undertaken successfully
a nuh job interviewer mocked me by saying i did not have a stable job since i hv graduated n that she thinks i cannot handle the job offered since i cannot handle the teaching profession
i even have a resignation letter ready in my drawer since last year..................

but really Thank God that i hv persevered thru! its really worth it!
I am finally going to nie in july!
I cant believe how i cried in front of the iron lady
i really hope to be glad as many days n years.......

Thank you Lord for my newfound confidence & maturity in teaching
Thank you for all your prayers.

psalms 84-87

Psalms 84-87 (too long to post and also dun wan to push the sharings all the way down)

gwen: this morning i kinda remembered that i havent posted the psalms for a couple of days. my com at home is down and can only do it in the office. was feeling abit disappointed for not updating the psalms. so i talked to a colleague in fcbc corporate communication who is also suppose to post the devotions in fcbc website. she looked at me and shyly said,"im back dated by 2 weeks." yes! fcbc website has a devotion about the psalms too. can go check it out http://www.fcbc.org.sg/service_news.asp?newsID=418

i wonder are those psalmist, levites and priests? they will seek God's face and intervene God's wrath upon His people. they reflect their actions and put their thoughts to words. they praises God and his almighty work. they too bless the righteous and curse the wicked. the people at that time may be struggling the same thing as us - injustice. still the psalmist come before God and seek His counsel. "never will God leave them and forsake them". such faith only comes with close relationship with God. like what fio shared. maintenance. continue to read the psalms. there's more treasure to be unfold.

a high maintenance GOD

let me share about something very light hearted n less spiritual like.....

u must water it with two pots of water everyday k?
my mum's last few instructions before they left for Australia
I had to maintain their "garden" while they r gone
sorry but i m e very boh chap kind...i dun like spending time watering plants everyday
i would rather concentrate on coming up with good lesson plans
so i lazily sprayed more water on it for the past few days
some more i was hardly at home due to the sanctification week
when i came home fr sch today, i saw a dying pot of plant
i was like oh shit!....i tried my best to resurrect it by spraying more water
before i left house, it still looked very sad...sigh
i even absurdly prayed for it on my way home coz i knoe there will be non-stop nagging when they come home tomo
when i came home, after spraying water on it five hours ago
thank GOD! it came alive n looks happier despite the rainstorm
it made me think of my relationship with GOD, he is definitely like that high maintenance
if we boh chap him for a day or two, our relationship will wither n dry up
then we must quickly water it or not it will just die away
so remember two pots of water for GOD everyday!!!!
Job 8:16
He is like a well-watered plant in the sunshine, spreading its shoots over the garden;

after this incident, i aspire to grow n nurture a pot of plant.....maybe a cactus. dun need to water so often. muhaha.

Sanctification Week

I feel like i dropped out of school and became a full-time church worker this week. Haha. Tues for choir rehearsal, Thurs Fri Sat for Sancti week, and Sun for choir, service, and congre. Actually it's kinda relaxing somehow, ermm maybe also cos there's no gb this week haha. But still, i did feel like ponning congre to catch up on my school stuff and just to chill out a bit...

Thank God i didn't. Though much of the first part was simply recapping things mentioned during Sancti week, i caught the full meaning of the whole idea of Sanctification, of Easter Sunday, of Ps Khong's seemingly simple evangelistic message, towards the end. I realised the condition of my heart. Perhaps, not Faithful, not just Loveless, but like the majority of the Church, Lukewarm. The compassion i once had for the lost had gradually diminished over time. The fire that once burnt so bright and strong had slowly become but a soft flame, sustaining but not...captivating. Serving had somehow evolved from passion to obligation, and though on the surface everything seemed the same i knew much had changed.

Serving...is really not easy. I guess, the hardest part is when obstacles come. When i was serving in UWC, gosh it was so hard to sustain, when noone seems to appreciate. Rushing down all the way to play with the kids during their recess time, planning activities and buying things for them. And what do we get for tt? A card(we gave them to write to ppl) to thank us-not for spending time with them-but for the constant supply of balloons. I remember once i went all the way there, and there was only one girl waiting for us-the rest found more exciting things to do-playing ball, skipping etc. Though it was a good time spent talking...i really felt like there wasn't any progress. Bottom line: I don't feel rewarded for my work.

Gkidz was fun, there was the reward of being hugged by cute lil' kids. Seriously, when one of my kids run towards me for a hug, smiling, it really makes me wanna melt. But i wasn't really serving God. I was...serving my own interest of playing with kids.

And then i started GB, something that i'd once said i'd NEVER do. I never thought i would be able to relate to sec sch kids, and i seriously had no interest in doing so. Haha never say never. Well in the end i went for what began as,"Just go and see see" to plunging full force into the ministry. And i don't regret it. I think...through it all i have grown so much. I still remember the Egg-camp last June, i think i've never tortured myself like that before. Honestly i think i grew up rather spoilt. And i hate camps. But that time, i roughed it out on the hard cold floor of the classroom, with cockcroaches running around, for 4 nights straight, sleeping for just a few hours every night. No, the last night didn't even sleep, cos Von, Des, Chng and i were doing sentry duty-sitting in front of the girls' tents watching over them. Still don't understand the logic of that actually, seeing as their tents were in the school complex. Haha. And that's just the night. During the day, it was one challenge after another-serving others first, always eating last, cleaning up after everyone, rahrahing when all i wanna do is collapse onto the ground, making friends with the girls, praying for them, and when everyone goes to sleep at the end of the day, go for debrief meeting. Not to mention that Ps Will just suddenly decided to ask me to co-host the night session, and right after i had (kinda) accepted that challenge, Ps Deb asked me to share my testimony in another session. Wah, i still remember that time, i was shivering with fear actually. But i knew i couldn't be selfish and hold back, because my story might just speak to some of the girls, and i couldn't rob them of that. Haha yall don't know this...but i went to hide somewhere to pray and prepare for the challenges, and i cried. I really struggled. Honoured yes, very, that the Lord would choose to use me, but scared nevertheless. But i did it. And i know the Lord used me to do something miraculous that night. That was the season...where i stepped intentionally out of my comfort zone frequently. It was like...Daniel and his friends walking into the fire, or into the lions' den.

But things have changed. Not just feeling unappreciated, i've been feeling really inadequate after that incident. Really doubt if i'm making any difference in changing lives, doubt myself. And when doubt comes in, sometimes the perseverance wavers and wanes. But, "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them." I searched 'continue' in Biblegateway and i found 148 repetitions of the word. We all need countless reminders and encouragements to motivate us to continue doing good.

My comfort zone, and i guess everyone else's, is to serve myself. At the core of every human being is selfishness. What Ps Khong said is very true, sometimes we get so caught up in our lil' clans, coming to church to receive from God, and enjoy each others' presence, that we fail to look out of our safe green comfy pasture. Fail to see all the lost sheep around us, fail to do anything to bring them into safe meadows, fail to protect them from wolves all around. But staying in comfort zones for long is deadly. Think couch potato. It's fun to do it for a night, maybe two. But for your whole life? You'd start to grow lethargic, dirty, unhappy, ugly, mentally unsound, depressed.

As i was singing, "I worship You..I worship You...", God convicted me that i do not mean what i sing unless my desire is aligned with His, to see His sheep saved. Not just to seek His Hand of blessing, not just His Face or presence, but to seek after His Heart, to passionately share His burden for His people. Why? Why preach the gospel? Because i don't want to go to Heaven one day, and push past the crowds to look for my family, and my closest friends...to find that they're not there. That fear...is so real. Because physical death is so inevitable. Like Ps Khong said, the statistics for death is...1 out of 1. And that fear would motivate me to love. Death...will motivate me to live.

Today is Easter Sunday. And today i remember the day i came to know Him, which is now, in retrospect, the most important day of my life. I remember also a very significant moment, years ago in Encounter Weekend, when i was watching the Passion of the Christ. When Jesus was being whipped and scourged and tortured and crucified, i was wailing and crying, my heart grieved and in pain. I know not this Man, but He came to die for me. And i remember saying then, through my wails, that i want to lead a life that will not let Him die in vain.

Jesus, i am not capable, of leading a life that will glorify You. But by Your grace Lord, help me. Help me to share Your heartbeat for the lost, help the fire to burn bright and strong again. Help me Lord, not to ever let You die in vain.

psalms 78-83

Psalm 78
A maskil of Asaph. [a]
1 O my people, hear my teaching;
listen to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth in parables,
I will utter hidden things, things from of old-
3 what we have heard and known,
what our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children;
we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD,
his power, and the wonders he has done.
5 He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our forefathers
to teach their children,
6 so the next generation would know them,

even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.
7 Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
but would keep his commands.
8 They would not be like their forefathers—
a stubborn and rebellious generation,
whose hearts were not loyal to God,
whose spirits were not faithful to him.
9 The men of Ephraim, though armed with bows,
turned back on the day of battle;
10 they did not keep God's covenant
and refused to live by his law.
11 They forgot what he had done,
the wonders he had shown them.
12 He did miracles in the sight of their fathers
in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea and led them through;
he made the water stand firm like a wall.
14 He guided them with the cloud by day
and with light from the fire all night.
15 He split the rocks in the desert
and gave them water as abundant as the seas;
16 he brought streams out of a rocky crag
and made water flow down like rivers.
17 But they continued to sin against him,
rebelling in the desert against the Most High.
18 They willfully put God to the test
by demanding the food they craved.
19 They spoke against God, saying,
"Can God spread a table in the desert?
20 When he struck the rock, water gushed out,
and streams flowed abundantly.
But can he also give us food?
Can he supply meat for his people?"
21 When the LORD heard them, he was very angry;
his fire broke out against Jacob,
and his wrath rose against Israel,
22 for they did not believe in God
or trust in his deliverance.
23 Yet he gave a command to the skies above
and opened the doors of the heavens;
24 he rained down manna for the people to eat,
he gave them the grain of heaven.
25 Men ate the bread of angels;
he sent them all the food they could eat.
26 He let loose the east wind from the heavens
and led forth the south wind by his power.
27 He rained meat down on them like dust,
flying birds like sand on the seashore.
28 He made them come down inside their camp,
all around their tents.
29 They ate till they had more than enough,
for he had given them what they craved.
30 But before they turned from the food they craved,
even while it was still in their mouths,
31 God's anger rose against them;
he put to death the sturdiest among them,
cutting down the young men of Israel.
32 In spite of all this, they kept on sinning;
in spite of his wonders, they did not believe.
33 So he ended their days in futility
and their years in terror.
34 Whenever God slew them, they would seek him;
they eagerly turned to him again.
35 They remembered that God was their Rock,
that God Most High was their Redeemer.
36 But then they would flatter him with their mouths,
lying to him with their tongues;
37 their hearts were not loyal to him,
they were not faithful to his covenant.
38 Yet he was merciful;
he forgave their iniquities
and did not destroy them.
Time after time he restrained his anger
and did not stir up his full wrath.
39 He remembered that they were but flesh,
a passing breeze that does not return.
40 How often they rebelled against him in the desert
and grieved him in the wasteland!
41 Again and again they put God to the test;
they vexed the Holy One of Israel.
42 They did not remember his power—
the day he redeemed them from the oppressor,
43 the day he displayed his miraculous signs in Egypt,
his wonders in the region of Zoan.
44 He turned their rivers to blood;
they could not drink from their streams.
45 He sent swarms of flies that devoured them,
and frogs that devastated them.
46 He gave their crops to the grasshopper,
their produce to the locust.
47 He destroyed their vines with hail
and their sycamore-figs with sleet.
48 He gave over their cattle to the hail,
their livestock to bolts of lightning.
49 He unleashed against them his hot anger,
his wrath, indignation and hostility—
a band of destroying angels.
50 He prepared a path for his anger;
he did not spare them from death
but gave them over to the plague.
51 He struck down all the firstborn of Egypt,
the firstfruits of manhood in the tents of Ham.
52 But he brought his people out like a flock;
he led them like sheep through the desert.
53 He guided them safely, so they were unafraid;
but the sea engulfed their enemies.
54 Thus he brought them to the border of his holy land,
to the hill country his right hand had taken.
55 He drove out nations before them
and allotted their lands to them as an inheritance;
he settled the tribes of Israel in their homes.
56 But they put God to the test
and rebelled against the Most High;
they did not keep his statutes.
57 Like their fathers they were disloyal and faithless,
as unreliable as a faulty bow.
58 They angered him with their high places;
they aroused his jealousy with their idols.
59 When God heard them, he was very angry;
he rejected Israel completely.
60 He abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh,
the tent he had set up among men.
61 He sent the ark of his might into captivity,
his splendor into the hands of the enemy.
62 He gave his people over to the sword;
he was very angry with his inheritance.
63 Fire consumed their young men,
and their maidens had no wedding songs;
64 their priests were put to the sword,
and their widows could not weep.
65 Then the Lord awoke as from sleep,
as a man wakes from the stupor of wine.
66 He beat back his enemies;
he put them to everlasting shame.
67 Then he rejected the tents of Joseph,
he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim;
68 but he chose the tribe of Judah,
Mount Zion, which he loved.
69 He built his sanctuary like the heights,
like the earth that he established forever.
70 He chose David his servant
and took him from the sheep pens;
71 from tending the sheep he brought him
to be the shepherd of his people Jacob,
of Israel his inheritance.
72 And David shepherded them with integrity of heart;
with skillful hands he led them.

Psalm 79
A psalm of Asaph.
1 O God, the nations have invaded your inheritance;
they have defiled your holy temple,
they have reduced Jerusalem to rubble.
2 They have given the dead bodies of your servants
as food to the birds of the air,
the flesh of your saints to the beasts of the earth.
3 They have poured out blood like water
all around Jerusalem,
and there is no one to bury the dead.
4 We are objects of reproach to our neighbors,
of scorn and derision to those around us.
5 How long, O LORD ? Will you be angry forever?
How long will your jealousy burn like fire?
6 Pour out your wrath on the nations
that do not acknowledge you,
on the kingdoms
that do not call on your name;
7 for they have devoured Jacob
and destroyed his homeland.
8 Do not hold against us the sins of the fathers;
may your mercy come quickly to meet us,
for we are in desperate need.
9 Help us, O God our Savior,
for the glory of your name;
deliver us and forgive our sins
for your name's sake.
10 Why should the nations say,
"Where is their God?"
Before our eyes, make known among the nations
that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants.
11 May the groans of the prisoners come before you;
by the strength of your arm
preserve those condemned to die.
12 Pay back into the laps of our neighbors seven times
the reproach they have hurled at you, O Lord.
13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture,
will praise you forever;
from generation to generation
we will recount your praise.

Psalm 80
For the director of music. To the tune of "The Lilies of the Covenant." Of Asaph. A psalm.
1 Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel,
you who lead Joseph like a flock;
you who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth
2 before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.
Awaken your might;
come and save us.
3 Restore us, O God;
make your face shine upon us,
that we may be saved.
4 O LORD God Almighty,
how long will your anger smolder
against the prayers of your people?
5 You have fed them with the bread of tears;
you have made them drink tears by the bowlful.
6 You have made us a source of contention to our neighbors,
and our enemies mock us.
7 Restore us, O God Almighty;
make your face shine upon us,
that we may be saved.
8 You brought a vine out of Egypt;
you drove out the nations and planted it.
9 You cleared the ground for it,
and it took root and filled the land.
10 The mountains were covered with its shade,
the mighty cedars with its branches.
11 It sent out its boughs to the Sea, [b]
its shoots as far as the River. [c]
12 Why have you broken down its walls
so that all who pass by pick its grapes?
13 Boars from the forest ravage it
and the creatures of the field feed on it.
14 Return to us, O God Almighty!
Look down from heaven and see!
Watch over this vine,
15 the root your right hand has planted,
the son [d] you have raised up for yourself.
16 Your vine is cut down, it is burned with fire;
at your rebuke your people perish.
17 Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand,
the son of man you have raised up for yourself.
18 Then we will not turn away from you;
revive us, and we will call on your name.
19 Restore us, O LORD God Almighty;
make your face shine upon us,
that we may be saved.

Psalm 81
For the director of music. According to gittith. Of Asaph. [e]
1 Sing for joy to God our strength;
shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
2 Begin the music, strike the tambourine,
play the melodious harp and lyre.
3 Sound the ram's horn at the New Moon,
and when the moon is full, on the day of our Feast;
4 this is a decree for Israel,
an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5 He established it as a statute for Joseph
when he went out against Egypt,
where we heard a language we did not understand. [f]
6 He says, "I removed the burden from their shoulders;
their hands were set free from the basket.
7 In your distress you called and I rescued you,
I answered you out of a thundercloud;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah.
Selah
8 "Hear, O my people, and I will warn you—
if you would but listen to me, O Israel!
9 You shall have no foreign god among you;
you shall not bow down to an alien god.
10 I am the LORD your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.
11 "But my people would not listen to me;
Israel would not submit to me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
to follow their own devices.
13 "If my people would but listen to me,
if Israel would follow my ways,
14 how quickly would I subdue their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes!
15 Those who hate the LORD would cringe before him,
and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
with honey from the rock I would satisfy you."

Psalm 82
A psalm of Asaph.
1 God presides in the great assembly;
he gives judgment among the "god":
2 "How long will you [g] defend the unjust
and show partiality to the wicked?
Selah
3 Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless;
maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
5 "They know nothing, they understand nothing.
They walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6 "I said, 'You are "gods";
you are all sons of the Most High.'
7 But you will die like mere men;
you will fall like every other ruler."
8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth,
for all the nations are your inheritance.

Psalm 83
A song. A psalm of Asaph.
1 O God, do not keep silent;
be not quiet, O God, be not still.
2 See how your enemies are astir,
how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people;
they plot against those you cherish.
4 "Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation,
that the name of Israel be remembered no more."
5 With one mind they plot together;
they form an alliance against you-
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Gebal, [a] Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them
to lend strength to the descendants of Lot.
Selah
9 Do to them as you did to Midian,
as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who perished at Endor
and became like refuse on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 who said, "Let us take possession
of the pasturelands of God."
13 Make them like tumbleweed, O my God,
like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest
or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so pursue them with your tempest
and terrify them with your storm.
16 Cover their faces with shame
so that men will seek your name, O LORD.
17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;
may they perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD—
that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

gwen: how's your sanctification week? do post up how God speaks to you. for me i learn one very important lesson. ps shared 'unless God goes before him. he will not venture in even God is to bless him'. God is more impt den the blessing He gives. which is true. coz in the end we are treating Him like a genie and forget about the relationship with Him. our soul must always long for Him and in everything we do. we muz do it unto the glory of God. it's a simple lesson but we always forget. take time to seek Him again day after day.

Psalm 77

For the director of music. For Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm.
1 I cried out to God for help;
I cried out to God to hear me.
2 When I was in distress, I sought the Lord;
at night I stretched out untiring hands
and my soul refused to be comforted.
3 I remembered you, O God, and I groaned;
I mused, and my spirit grew faint.
Selah
4 You kept my eyes from closing;
I was too troubled to speak.
5 I thought about the former days,
the years of long ago;
6 I remembered my songs in the night.
My heart mused and my spirit inquired:
7 "Will the Lord reject forever?
Will he never show his favor again?
8 Has his unfailing love vanished forever?
Has his promise failed for all time?
9 Has God forgotten to be merciful?
Has he in anger withheld his compassion?"
Selah
10 Then I thought, "To this I will appeal:
the years of the right hand of the Most High."
11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD;
yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
12 I will meditate on all your works
and consider all your mighty deeds.
13 Your ways, O God, are holy.
What god is so great as our God?
14 You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples.
15 With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
Selah
16 The waters saw you, O God,
the waters saw you and writhed;
the very depths were convulsed.
17 The clouds poured down water,
the skies resounded with thunder;
your arrows flashed back and forth.
18 Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
your lightning lit up the world;
the earth trembled and quaked.
19 Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.
20 You led your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

gwen: i really wonder how these psalms sound like when it's being sung. think we'll hear it in heaven one day. meanwhile, praise the Lord with the songs you know. He's always be there to listen to the praises you give to Him. be it happy or sad, sing to Him a song of praise. and may He lift your spirit up once again like a soaring eagles in the sky. =)

zirp: i remember that the Psalmist is human. Like us, he feels disappointment, he feels sadness, grief, of muse and groans that the Lord has left him alone. Affected by things around him, he feels distressed. It is this outpour and acceptance of his negative emotions that led to the confessions of his lonely thoughts that the Lord has forsaken him. Yet, he is reminded eventually of the goodness of the Lord. What probably struck me is, he felt better not because the Lord solved his issues immediately, neither because he hold the Lord to His promises and plans He has for him. Rather, he took time to 'meditate on all His works and consider all your mighty deeds" (v12) and knew then that

v 19 'Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.'
To be reminded of His goodness, is all about him and zero about us. But of course, it all started with all about us, haa. I think it is important not to feel bad against myself for feeling bad, and it is even more important that i recognize eventually only He will make me feel better, not myself.

anw, this song has been singing non-stop on my playlist since a friend sent it over. Old school rocks.

Psalm 76

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.

1 In Judah God is known;
his name is great in Israel.

2 His tent is in Salem,
his dwelling place in Zion.

3 There he broke the flashing arrows,
the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.
Selah

4 You are resplendent with light,
more majestic than mountains rich with game.

5 Valiant men lie plundered,
they sleep their last sleep;
not one of the warriors
can lift his hands.

6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob,
both horse and chariot lie still.

7 You alone are to be feared.
Who can stand before you when you are angry?

8 From heaven you pronounced judgment,
and the land feared and was quiet-

9 when you, O God, rose up to judge,
to save all the afflicted of the land.
Selah

10 Surely your wrath against men brings you praise,
and the survivors of your wrath are restrained. [a]

11 Make vows to the LORD your God and fulfill them;
let all the neighboring lands
bring gifts to the One to be feared.

12 He breaks the spirit of rulers;
he is feared by the kings of the earth.

Jenn: Help us Lord, to fear You more, to behold Your awesome Presence in its entirety. Because Lord when we fear You...there is nothing else on Earth we need fear. For nothing is greater than You.

Psalm 75

For the director of music. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." A psalm of Asaph. A song.

1 We give thanks to you, O God,
we give thanks, for your Name is near;
men tell of your wonderful deeds.

2 You say, "I choose the appointed time;
it is I who judge uprightly.

3 When the earth and all its people quake,
it is I who hold its pillars firm.
Selah

4 To the arrogant I say, 'Boast no more,'
and to the wicked, 'Do not lift up your horns.

5 Do not lift your horns against heaven;
do not speak with outstretched neck.' "

6 No one from the east or the west
or from the desert can exalt a man.

7 But it is God who judges:
He brings one down, he exalts another.

8 In the hand of the LORD is a cup
full of foaming wine mixed with spices;
he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth
drink it down to its very dregs.

9 As for me, I will declare this forever;
I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.

10 I will cut off the horns of all the wicked,
but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.

Jenn: Thank You God for Your well-timed reminder, to eradicate all pride in me, and bring me to humility. I will not allow myself to be deluded and blinded by pride...simply because i cannot bear to be far from You Lord. I cannot live without You Jesus. Thank You...for breaking me again, because it is in these desperate moments that i draw closer to You. =) I love You God.

Psalm 74

A maskil of Asaph. [a]

1 Why have you rejected us forever, O God?
Why does your anger smolder against the sheep of your pasture?
2 Remember the people you purchased of old,
the tribe of your inheritance, whom you redeemed—
Mount Zion, where you dwelt.

3 Turn your steps toward these everlasting ruins,
all this destruction the enemy has brought on the sanctuary.

4 Your foes roared in the place where you met with us;
they set up their standards as signs.

5 They behaved like men wielding axes
to cut through a thicket of trees.

6 They smashed all the carved paneling
with their axes and hatchets.

7 They burned your sanctuary to the ground;
they defiled the dwelling place of your Name.

8 They said in their hearts, "We will crush them completely!"
They burned every place where God was worshiped in the land.

9 We are given no miraculous signs;
no prophets are left,
and none of us knows how long this will be.

10 How long will the enemy mock you, O God?
Will the foe revile your name forever?

11 Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand?
Take it from the folds of your garment and destroy them!

12 But you, O God, are my king from of old;
you bring salvation upon the earth.

13 It was you who split open the sea by your power;
you broke the heads of the monster in the waters.

14 It was you who crushed the heads of Leviathan
and gave him as food to the creatures of the desert.

15 It was you who opened up springs and streams;
you dried up the ever flowing rivers.

16 The day is yours, and yours also the night;
you established the sun and moon.

17 It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth;
you made both summer and winter.

18 Remember how the enemy has mocked you, O LORD,
how foolish people have reviled your name.

19 Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts;
do not forget the lives of your afflicted people forever.

20 Have regard for your covenant,
because haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land.

21 Do not let the oppressed retreat in disgrace;
may the poor and needy praise your name.

22 Rise up, O God, and defend your cause;
remember how fools mock you all day long.

23 Do not ignore the clamor of your adversaries,
the uproar of your enemies, which rises continually.

gwen: dear Father, please have mercy on us and extend your grace. if there are things we did that offend you. please forgive us. show us the way to Your righteous path and truth. dont turn Your face away from us. we need You every day of our lives. may we know you more and more each day and till the day we get to fellowship with You face to face in heaven. teach us to be pure and holy, so as we are presentable to You. in Jesus' name. Amen.

It's amazing seeing God work through a young child... Even better, walking among the muslims...

Continue to pray for His ministry in muslim countries. That He will continue to use people to move in those lands.

Psalm 73

BOOK III : Psalms 73-89
1A psalm of Asaph.
Surely God is good to Israel,
to those who are pure in heart.
2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;
I had nearly lost my foothold.
3 For I envied the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 They have no struggles;
their bodies are healthy and strong.
5 They are free from the burdens common to man;
they are not plagued by human ills.
6 Therefore pride is their necklace;
they clothe themselves with violence.
7 From their callous hearts comes iniquity [b] ;
the evil conceits of their minds know no limits.
8 They scoff, and speak with malice;
in their arrogance they threaten oppression.
9 Their mouths lay claim to heaven,
and their tongues take possession of the earth.
10 Therefore their people turn to them
and drink up waters in abundance.
11 They say, "How can God know?
Does the Most High have knowledge?"
12 This is what the wicked are like—
always carefree, they increase in wealth.
13 Surely in vain have I kept my heart pure;
in vain have I washed my hands in innocence.
14 All day long I have been plagued;
I have been punished every morning.
15 If I had said, "I will speak thus,"
I would have betrayed your children.
16 When I tried to understand all this,
it was oppressive to me
17 till I entered the sanctuary of God;
then I understood their final destiny.
18 Surely you place them on slippery ground;
you cast them down to ruin.
19 How suddenly are they destroyed,
completely swept away by terrors!
20 As a dream when one awakes,
so when you arise, O Lord,
you will despise them as fantasies.
21 When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,
22 I was senseless and ignorant;
I was a brute beast before you.
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.
25
27 Those who are far from you will perish;
you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.
28 But as for me, it is good to be near God.
I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge;
I will tell of all your deeds.

gwen: yeah... we are at the 3rd book of psalms. ps mm shared about this psalm during staff worship. reminds me that i used to ask God y the wicked can do whatever they like and still so happy. like pre martial sex and stuff. while the world brand us as The Legends. come to think of it... legends are gd too. at least legends attract legends. so we are safe from STD, less prob to settle in the future, lesser re-encounter to go. yes. may God keep us safe and pure. walk in the way of God and He will grant you your heart's desire. stay legendary, sisters.

jenn: "As a dream when one awakes, so when you arise, O Lord, you will despise them as fantasies." Been plagued by dreams tt'd haunt me...God when i awake each morning, please bring me back to reality. Remind me of Your love daily, so that my heart will not struggle within me when i see the wicked prosper.
"Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. I confess...You are the Lord of my Heart, Lord of my Mind, Lord of my Strength. Lord of my Soul, Lord of my Life, Lord of my All. I commit myself, once again, wholly to You Lord.
